WELCOME TO MOZAMBIK
Immerse yourself in the essence of passion and unapologetically Afro-Porto flavors at Mozambik, a rapidly rising star among South Africa's premier dining brands. Originating as a single establishment in Ballito, Kwa-Zulu Natal nearly 18 years ago, Mozambik has flourished into a formidable presence with 33 national locations and three international outposts in Lusaka, Gaborone, and Harare.
As Mozambik continues its upward trajectory with ongoing site evaluations, the brand remains true to its roots, offering a taste of escape inspired by the rich Afro-Porto fusion cuisine. More than just a dining experience, Mozambik is a multi-sensory journey focused on providing high-quality cuisine, an exceptional atmosphere, and top-tier service. A visit to Mozambik is akin to a brief holiday—a flavorful escape from the ordinary.
Mozambik defies being a cookie-cutter brand; each store, while distinctly recognizable, boasts localized nuances and individuality. Chef Brett Michielin has curated a signature range of bastings, sauces, and rubbing spices that have become synonymous with Mozambik. The menu, drawing inspiration from Afro-Porto cuisine, offers a diverse array of taste experiences, from traditional prawns to the renowned Mozambik chicken.
RECOGNITION
Mozambik has garnered praise from various media outlets and social influencers, consistently earning an average customer rating of four stars and multiple TripAdvisor 5-star certifications (2015-18). The brand has also secured top positions in various South African restaurant rankings.
The Mozambik story began as a solo venture by Luis Ferreira in 2005, later joined by Brett Michielin in 2006, and further expanded with the addition of Ryan Stewart in 2008. United by their dream of creating family-oriented restaurants, they envisioned bringing the taste of Mozambique to local communities, eliminating the need to travel far for an authentic experience.
The menu, catering to diverse palates, reflects the Afro-Porto fusion of Mozambique. Drawing inspiration from Mozambique's culture, where eating and drinking are integral parts of life, Mozambik recreates this essence in its Barraca’s—unpretentious, filled with laughter, and an appreciation for the wisdom of simplicity.
Mozambik is not just about food; it's about the joy of friends and family gathering over exceptional meals, creating a welcoming experience reminiscent of sinking toes into the sand, sipping cocktails, and enjoying the sunset.
